You belong to me...
Dear Mom,
It's 10:00pm on May 13th and for the first time in my life I have not talked to you on Mother's day. I googled the distance between us... it's 9,000 miles, a great big country, and a giant pacific ocean to where you are.
I miss you from the top of my head to the tip of my toes, but my heart is overflowing with pride and thanksgiving for the Mom that God has blessed me with.
A mom who is willing to fly to the other side of the world alone to fulfill the call God has placed on her life. A mom who gave up 5 weeks worth of wet kisses, wrinkly forheads and chubby baby cheeks to minister to people she has never met. A mom who rediscovered her love for adventure and chose to embrace it in the latter years of her life... and a mom who loves the Lord her God with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Just so you know, you teach me things even in your absence.
Tonight I found myself humming the tune of a favorite song...one that has significance on many levels...
"See the pyramids along the Nile
Watch the sunrise from a tropic isle
Just remember darling all the while
You belong to me
See the market place in old Algiers
Send me photographes and souvenirs
Just remember when a dream appears
You belong to me
I'd be so alone without you
Maybe you'd be lonesome too
Fly the ocean in a silver plane
See the jungle when it's wet with rain
Just remember till you're home again
You belong to me
I'd be so alone without you
Maybe you'd be lonesome too
Fly the ocean in a silver plane
See the jungle when it's wet with rain
Just remember till you're home again
You belong to me..."
Thanks for being a wonderful Mom, friend and role-model for me. I love you!

I love that picture of you and Mom. You are absolutely right in all you said. I can't listen to that song right now or I'll cry from missing her - I've just got to keep praising with the excitement that she is having a great time right now and will be home soon :)
ReplyDeleteI know...I pick up the phone like 6 times a day to call her and then remember it will just go to voicemail...:( but time is going more quickly than I expected:) is it for you too?
Deletesweetie, that was soo beautiful..you give me way too much credit. i just loved you both with all my heart and prayed for you. God has answered my prayers a hundred times over! A mom can't ask for anything more than to have both her daughters love the Lord, and have chosen wonderful men for their husbands and now fathers of their children! I am blessed beyond belief! I love you both sooo much and miss you and can't wait to hug you again! thanks for the beautiful blog!!! i love you, mom
